Om Shambhala Ashram

Tharaka’s place is truly one of a kind, just like him. It’s an ideal space for inner exploration. The rooms are unique, beautifully decorated, and filled with sacred objects from his pilgrimages across Asia. The food is delicious, and the atmosphere naturally attracts thoughtful, like-minded people. What made my stay special was Tharaka himself: the energy, wisdom, and humility he shares, often accompanied by his music. I joined his retreat and private sessions, ranging from Hatha Yoga and Kriya to Tibetan and Kundalini practices. In over three years of spiritual travel across Asia, I can honestly say this level of guidance is rare. The retreat’s small, intimate setting allows for deep conversations and meaningful emotional release beyond the formal sessions. Combined with guided visits to Anuradhapura’s sacred sites, the experience becomes a true journey through spirituality and culture. I extended my stay and am already planning to return. Om Shambala is a place of deep connection, inner trasformation and awesome music :)

Om Shambhala is an undescribable place and Tharaka an undescribable teacher. The 5 day retreat is a journey that takes you deep and beyond. It teaches you a lot of different yoga and meditation styles, and they are all breathtaking. It's a retreat in which your old self will peacefully die and you'll be reborn. If you are looking for a place that is the real deal, authentic and with a teacher whom has an unlimited amount of knowledge about buddhism this is your place. Tharaka will make you feel very comfortable and at home. He gives you a unique experience and really sees you as a person. I will never forget him and his place.

I stayed here for 14 days and truly loved it. The area is peaceful and has a very local feel, with easy access to nearby food and small grocery shops. The PickMe app also worked great for getting to nearby places. The space itself is beautiful. I especially appreciated the decor, the paintings, and the amazing bookshelf. I used the yoga shala daily, both mornings and evenings. There’s a strong sense of unity and calm throughout the ashram that really makes it special. Everyone was very kind, friendly, and welcoming, which made the experience even more meaningful. I also enjoyed riding a bike around the nearby lakes and discovering some cute juice spots along the way. Overall, it was a lovely stay and definitely a place I would return to.

I can deeply recommend Om Shambala Ashram for everybody who is looking for a spiritual power place. There is Peace, Joy, Loving-Kindness and vibrating Energy. You will flow into this place and inspiration and kindness will come over you. Enjoy your stay and the big spiritual insights which Tharnaka will share with you. Relax and see yourself growing !

I highly recommend spending time here to all spiritual seekers. It's a fantastic space for personal practice, and the conversations with Tharaka are truly enriching. You absolutely shouldn't miss a kirtan with Tharaka; his musical talent is captivating and invites to listen and jam along. Besides kirtan, there is also option for sessions like yoga, different meditations and great spiritual excursions. The two and a half weeks I spent here were very enriching.
