River Face restaurant-Ella

Stumbled upon this place walking towards Ella Rock, stopped on the way back for some food. Hands down one of the better curry’s we have had in Sri Lanka! Friendly staff is present in this nice family owned restaurant. Highly recommended!!

LOVE this place! I’ve stayed in Ella for 3 days and have eaten here twice. Well positioned for a breakfast / lunch after climbing Ella Rock; it’s along the train tracks as you walk back into town. The owners and staff are all lovely and it’s very relaxed with plenty of Bob Marley playing. The food is cooked fresh, it’s authentic and truly delicious! I can’t recommend it enough. I had a mango lassi and coconut roti (so good!) with chicken curry. Love this place! If I was staying longer, I’ve no doubt I’d come back again! Thank you! :)

A quaint little treasure tucked away at the side of the train track! You do have to walk there - don’t get google maps directions, go from Kithal Ella railway station there’s parking there and easier to walk there! It’s a brilliant family run business that makes amazing food - great value for money! Just beware they don’t have a “normal” toilet. But they do have the cutest dogs!!

This was such a brilliant place that we were so happy to find. We stopped here post Ella Rock hike on our way back to Ella town and it was so worth it. It's tiny but does everything exceptionally. The chicken curry that I had was one of the best dishes I've had in Sri Lanka and the mojito we had is literally one of the best I've had in my life. Everything was flavorful, balanced and delicious. All of this capped off with attentive service and a gorgeous view whilst feeling tucked away and special.

A truly amazing experience here! Ate here twice in the same day it was so good! Curry and rice then the Kottu. Highly recommend both. Family run and all of them work really hard. The tunes were also the added bit to the cake! Highly recommend. Thankyou :-)
