I strongly advise anyone considering this hotel for a wedding or any special event to think twice.
I attended a wedding reception here recently, and it was one of the most disappointing experiences I have ever had. The dinner was arranged for more than 200 guests, yet more than 150 people were unable to have their meal because of the hotel’s poor planning and management.
The buffet was badly organized, the food quality was below standard, and there were no staff members available to assist guests. Eventually, only plain white rice was left, and there were not even enough plates. When guests tried to find staff for assistance, they had disappeared.
This level of service is completely unacceptable for a hotel that hosts weddings and large functions. Guests deserve proper food, adequate arrangements, and professional service. Unfortunately, this hotel failed in every aspect.
Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this hotel. If you value your money and want your guests to be treated properly, I suggest choosing another venue.

I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had at this resort for my wedding. We paid nearly LKR 500,000 on time for the food and the additional facilities we had agreed upon because we trusted the management to deliver what was promised.
Unfortunately, on our wedding day, we discovered that the chef who had prepared the delicious food for our tasting had been replaced without informing us. This was never communicated in advance, and the quality of the food served on our special day was nowhere near what we had been promised.
What disappointed me even more was the way the entire situation was handled. Instead of taking responsibility and resolving our concerns professionally, I felt that the management failed to provide the level of service expected for such an important event. In my experience, the General Manager's handling of our wedding showed poor communication, a lack of accountability, and unprofessional management. I also felt that we were not treated fairly compared with other customers.
Even after our wedding, I gave the management another opportunity to correct these issues. Sadly, I was disappointed again. The food prepared for 150 takeaway parcels for our guests did not meet acceptable standards, leaving me embarrassed and heartbroken.
A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion that cannot be repeated. We trusted this resort with one of the most important days of our lives, and the experience did not match the promises that were made. I hope the management takes genuine responsibility, improves its communication, and ensures that no other couple has to go through the disappointment we experienced.

It was quite a nice place though it requires many things to be improved.
Rooms were clean and room supplies were provided.
The main issue was most of the staff were so inexperienced and they couldn’t handle the load.
The food was not so great even though it was a buffet. Not enough varieties and dessert were absolutely not satisfying.
Pool was good.
View was amazing to see the sun rise.

Strange situation – important for travellers to be aware
There seems to be confusion around the naming and branding of this property (Trincomalee Beach Resort Spa / TBRS by Platinum Hotels). I also noticed another review on Booking describing a very similar situation.
TBRS appears to be significantly more expensive than Trincomalee Beach Resort Spa, even though the photos (especially the swimming pool and exterior) look identical between listings. The on-site price for TBRS also seems to be around 11,000 LKR, which is very different from the higher prepaid rates shown online.
The hotel name and branding are inconsistent between the entrance, reception, and different booking platforms. There also appears to be another property with a very similar name located very close by on the map, which adds to the confusion.
When I asked for clarification, I was told that it was not the same hotel and was directed to another Trincomalee Beach Resort Spa further south, which does not match the location shown on maps. This did not help clarify the situation.
Pricing and availability also vary significantly across platforms, with different listings showing different rates and booking options for what appears to be a very similar property.
I recommend future guests carefully check the exact hotel name, location, photos, and prices before booking.

Recently, I attended a wedding reception at this hotel, and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had.
The dinner was arranged for more than 200 guests, but over 150 people were unable to eat because of the poor management. There were no proper arrangements, the food quality was disappointing, and there were no staff members available at the buffet to assist guests.
By the end, only plain white rice was left. There were not even enough plates for everyone. When we tried to contact the staff, they were nowhere to be found.
I would not recommend this hotel for any event. You could end up spending a lot of money and receiving very poor service in return. This review is based entirely on my personal experience.
