Super happy with my stay at Into the Blue. The area has several options for accommodations, but I’m so pleased I decided to stay here. This place felt really special with its peaceful and convenient location (5 minutes walk to closest beach, which has good surf!), super welcoming and helpful staff and spacious rooms.
Their lush and beautiful space offered a serene place for rest, away from louder, busier parts in the area and is set back enough so there isn’t noise from buses or cars. The rooms are furnished with comfortable beds, and thoughtful design of private areas, while communal lounge areas are a nice spot to read a book, catch up on messages and meet other guests during breakfast. As for location, staying here made exploring very easy, with several different beaches a short walk away and other towns, like Tangalle/Hiriketiya a 10 or 15 minute bus/tuk tuk ride.
The yoga offered was a great way to care for yourself and start the day in a beautiful yoga shala that catches early light. Topped with a fresh and tasty breakfast, the morning times here were a favorite of mine.
A big bonus at Into the Blue are the other activities they have like movie night and soothing massages. Both being delicious, relaxing and a great time.
Thanks Into the Blue and your caring staff for really providing a lovely experience for your guests.
Unfortunately, my stay at Into the Blue did not live up to the expectations set online. I had booked the place mainly because it was presented as a yoga-focused stay very close to the beaches, but the experience felt quite different in reality. The price was high for Sri Lanka and did not match the overall experience.
While the yoga teacher was very kind, the classes were exactly the same basic flow every day and felt rather inexperienced. And this was by far not my first experience with hatha yoga - also in the area. This was surprising given the positioning and pricing of the retreat, and it did not meet the expectations of a yoga-focused stay.
The breakfast and overall atmosphere on the property also felt quite monotonous and not especially welcoming, particularly as a solo traveler. In other places I stayed, hosts were warm and genuinely interested in making guests feel comfortable. Here, staff did not even always greet guests, which made the atmosphere feel somewhat distant.
In addition, the beaches were significantly farther away than described. Reaching the silent beach required about a 20-minute walk along the street, which did not feel very comfortable, especially in the evenings. The small jungle path leading to the property also felt uncomfortable to walk alone after dark, as there were several stray and guard dogs barking along the path and near the huts. The barking continued throughout the entire night right next to the huts which made it difficult to rest.
It’s a pity, because the place itself - especially the shala - has a lot of potential. However, the overall experience did not match the expectations created by the listing, and I wouldn’t choose to stay here again, especially when traveling alone.

In to the Blue is a wonderful place if you’re looking for peace, nature and a more local Sri Lanka vibe. The guesthouse is located in a beautiful jungle setting and feels very calm and relaxing. The beach is about a 5-minute walk, which we actually enjoyed — a nice short stroll before and after a surf session.
One of the biggest highlights is the location: there are three stunning, idyllic beaches within walking distance, and it’s very close to a surf spot, making it perfect for surfers and beginners. Compared to nearby Hiriketiya, the area still feels refreshingly local and not overly touristy.
The atmosphere is ideal for couples, surfers, yoga lovers and anyone looking to slow down. The breakfast is delicious and filling — exactly what you need before a solid surf session. Fresh, nourishing and clearly made with care.
The jungle vibe really makes this place special. You completely unwind here and feel connected to nature. Just a small tip: bring some mosquito spray, as they do show up during the day — nothing unusual for this kind of setting, but good to be prepared.
Overall, a fantastic stay and a place we would happily return to. Highly recommended if you’re looking for calm, nature and an authentic experience near the beach.

I had a wonderful stay here in here. The place is so peaceful, perfect for relaxing and recharging. The garden is really beautiful.
The rooms are beautifully maintained, very comfortable and cozy. The staff are amazing, always friendly and attentive.
The location is ideal if you’re looking for peace and quiet away from the tourist crowds, it’s well situated but much calmer than the surrounding areas, which makes the stay even more enjoyable.
In short, a true haven of peace that I would definitely return to! 🌸
I had such a peaceful stay here. The resort is surrounded by jungle, which creates a really calm atmosphere, especially in the evenings when everything becomes quiet and you can really relax. The rooms were very comfortable and had a beautiful grounding feel — simple, natural and very connected to the surroundings. I also really appreciated the free yoga sessions, which added to the whole experience. It’s a wonderful place to slow down, unwind and feel close to nature.
