I stayed at Jaffna City Hotel for 6 nights and 7 days. Overall, it is a decent facility, but it is clear that parts of the property are in need of renovation and upgrades. I went in with expectations based on a previous stay in 2017, when the overall room quality and condition felt noticeably better. Unfortunately, the current standard of the rooms has declined compared to that experience. In my opinion, both the rooms and bathrooms need renovation, and the water pressure in the bathrooms should also be improved to meet a more comfortable standard. On arrival, we were initially given a room with a missing window and a noticeable issue with bugs inside. However, the staff handled this very professionally—once we brought it to their attention, they immediately changed our room without hesitation. The staff throughout the hotel were excellent. Service was truly a highlight of the stay and felt first-class. They were attentive, helpful, and accommodating throughout the entire trip. Room service was also convenient and reliable, which made the longer stay easier and more comfortable. In addition, the hotel’s laundry service was very useful and well-handled, adding to the convenience of staying for an extended period. Overall, while the physical condition of the hotel needs improvement, the strong service and staff professionalism helped balance the experience. With some renovations, Jaffna City Hotel has the potential to return to its earlier standard.
